Are the people on MegaMates paid to talk to me?
No, everyone you hear on our system is a regular person, just like you.
How old do I have to be to call MegaMates?
All callers must be 18 years old or over to use MegaMates.

People like you! We do not hire people to use our system, everyone you hear is a regular person looking for the same things you are.
Is MegaMates private and confidential?
Yes, the other people on the system have no way of getting any information about you unless you give it to them. They won’t know your phone number, address or real name.
Is my information secure?
Most definitely! Unlike other sites we do not require you to share information about yourself to anyone if you do not feel comfortable. No one can see your phone number or know your name.
Using MegaMates
How can I start meeting new people through MegaMates?
- Call your local number.
- Dial in and create your mailbox.
- Record your personal ad, describing yourself and what you’re looking for.
- Enter your statistics so you can use our Matching Menu.
- When you hear someone interesting, send them a message to strike up a conversation.
- After messaging, you can send them a request to connect one on one. There, you can have a private chat about whatever you want!
What is Direct Connect?
Connect with members when they are not on the system. By activating Direct Connect, you can initiate and receive calls any time of day. Be available for a connection 24/7 if you want to be!
What is Live Chat?
The fastest way to connect on our system is with Live Chat. Browse members online and when you hear someone that really sparks for you, send a Chat Request.
What is the Matching Menu?

What is Message Retrieval?
Message Retrieval allows you to listen to messages in your mailbox sent to you by other callers.
What is a Pre-Paid Message?
Send a Pre-Paid Priority Message and guarantee that the caller you’re interested in will hear your message. They won’t need to worry about having Message Retrieval. Ordinary messages can’t be opened by users without Message Retrieval.
Mailboxes
What is a Mailbox and how is it used?
A Mailbox holds your Public Message to others on the system to let them know who you are and what you are looking for. It is where people can leave messages for you, add you to their Hot List or connect one on one for a Live Chat. Even if you are not on the system, your mailbox will speak for you so people can leave a message for you to pick up next time you call in. You can even have notifications sent to your phone when you receive a message!
What do I do if I forget or lose my mailbox number or pin code?
Your mailbox number gives you access to MegaMates and your pass code is like your bank PIN number, so it is important to keep it private and not to share it with anyone. To protect yourself and your mailbox from fraudulent use, call our friendly, 24-hour Customer Service at 1-888-MegaMates if you lose your numbers. For your security, you will be asked to verify your personal information.
How long will my Mailbox last?
Your Mailbox will last as long as you want, as long as it remains active. To keep your Membership active you need to log in and use it. If your Mailbox remains unused for a period of 3 months it will be deactivated and you will forfeit any time or Pre-Paid Messages left in it.
What is not acceptable in a Public Message?
We want everyone to have an enjoyable, satisfying experience using our system. We will not tolerate:
- Any discrimination based on age, gender or race.
- Any references to illegal activity.
- Threats of violence or harm.
What if I receive a message that I find really interesting?
When you receive a message from someone who interests you, and we know you will, you can instantly exchange private messages with them, just like sending a voicemail that they’ll hear right away. When you’re ready, send a chat request to connect with them live in a private conversation.
Can I access my mailbox from any phone?
Yes!!
What should I do if someone asks for my mailbox number or pin code online?
DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. No one from MegaMates will ever contact you while you are on the system. If you receive a message from someone claiming to be from MegaMates, make sure you block and report them after hearing their message or greeting.
What should I say in my Public Message?
Your public message introduces you to other callers, so don’t be shy! This is your chance to share what’s special about you. Relax and take your time because the best greetings get the most responses! Here are some tips for recording a public message that will get you noticed:
- Keep your tone positive! Do you sound approachable? Remember, people are attracted to confidence so speak clearly and remember to smile.
- Show off the real you by sharing your best features, interests, and passions. Think about what will make you stand out to other callers and let them know!
- Most importantly, tell them what you’re looking for! Asking for what you want is the best way to get it.
- It’s okay to call MegaMates with your friends but, remember, if there’s more than one of you on the line, you each need to say your name in your public message.
- Listen to your public message when you’re done to make sure it’s the way you want it, and that it can be heard clearly. If you change your mind or what you’re looking for, you can record a new one any time you want.
How can I listen to my messages?
Once you have logged into your mailbox, you will hear if you have messages or not. You can press 1 at the Main Menu to listen to them. After you hear each message, you will hear options on what to do next. Answer or ignore; the choice is up to you!
What do I do if I receive a message from a caller that I'm not interested in?
If you’re just not interested in hearing from that person again, you can block them by pressing 8 after hearing their message, or by pressing 7 if you have looked them up by their box number. You won’t hear them again and they won’t hear you.
If you think they are doing something they shouldn’t, you can also report them to our quality department from the same menu. You can also speak to one of our customer service agents by pressing *9 (Star-9) from any menu.
Payments and Billing
What payment methods do you accept?
You may pay with a Credit, Debit, or Pre-Paid Credit Card from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. You may also pay using Check-by-Phone or Western Union, or send us a Check or Money Order through the mail. Learn more about each payment option.

Can I send a check or cash in the mail?
Checks can actually be used over the phone if you are a U.S. customer. U.S. and Canadian customers can pay by Western Union if you want to use cash to purchase.
